Spotify Registers Major Increases For Grammy Performers

Spotify plays in the 24 hours following the Grammy Awards have registered huge increases for the performers.

Classic songs from Chicago, Metallica and Stevie Wonder were searched for and listened to on Spotify the day after the Grammy’s.

Stevie Wonder’s ‘Another Star’, performed with Daft Punk at the Grammy Awards, increased 635% on Spotify. Chicago’s ‘Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?’, performed with Robin Thicke on the show, increased 150% in plays, Metallica ‘One’ registered a 125% increase and Beyonce ‘Drunk In Love’ went up 52%.

Just being nominated also generated increase plays for artists. Daft Punk increased 205%, Paul McCartney 126%, Kendrick Lamar 99%, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis 65% and Keith urban 60%.

Spotify plays prior to the awards also mirrored in wins in three Top categories:

◦ Best New Artist: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
◦ Best Pop Solo Performance: “Royals” / Lorde
◦ Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: “Get Lucky” / Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers
