Suzi Quatro is returning to Australia for her 42nd tour, and she has no shortage of stories to tell.
In this exclusive Noise11 interview, Suzi Quatro talks with Paul Cashmere about the extraordinary relationship she has built with Australian audiences since her first show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on May 7, 1974.
Suzi looks back on her early years with The Pleasure Seekers, the discipline of playing five shows a night and the remarkable story of her father confronting Chuck Berry in Buffalo in 1967.
She also discusses her latest album, Freedom, and the decision to return to the stripped-back energy of her early recordings. Suzi explains what her son and producer Richard Tuckey brings to her music and recalls how he challenged her to find a more natural vocal performance during the recording of The Devil In Me.
The conversation also covers the Detroit connection behind Kick Out The Jams, her recording with Alice Cooper, Don Nix’s Going Down, Neil Young’s Rockin’ In The Free World and the Quatro, Scott & Powell project with members of Sweet and Slade.
