Tex Perkins Is Doing More Gaol Time This Year Than Ever Before

by Paul Cashmere on October 15, 2016

in News

Tex Perkins is spending record time in gaols this year with thanks to the Far From Folsom shows.

Promoter Duane McDonald thought up the idea of Perkins performing the songs of Johnny Cash across Australia in decommissioned prisons.

The idea took 18-months to activate and gaols around Australia were selected. Almost all of the shows on the tour have sold out including the two shows at Cockatoo Island is Sydney this weekend.

When the shows went on sale for the initial shows at the Parramatta Gaol in 2015, 7000 tickets were snapped up immediately. 20 shows will be performed on this current tour.

For the Far From Folsom tour Perkins is backed by the Tennessee Four with Rachel Tidd. The shows honour Johnny Cash’s legendary Folsom and San Quentin prison shows that are now essential parts of the Cash catalogue.
