The Beatles Let It Be Returns To iTunes Chart After Paul McCartney Carpool Karaoke

Paul McCartney’s Beatles classic ‘Let It Be’ is sitting at no 30 today on the Australian iTunes chart following Sir Paul’s appearance on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment last week.

Corden talked to Paul about the relevance of his music today. “I had a dream in the 60s where my mum, who had died, came to me in the dream. She was reassuring me saying “It’s gonna be okay. Just let it me”. I felt so great. She gave me the positive word. So I woke up and thought ‘what was that. Did she say let it be?’ I had never heard that. It was kinda good. So I wrote the song Let It Be. It was about positivity”.

The original Let It Be was the title track of the final album by The Beatles. The song was released as a single on 6 March 1970. The album followed on 8 May 1970. The Let It Be documentary film was released on 13 May 1970.

McCartney maternal dream came during the recording the ‘The Beatles’ (aka The White album) in 1968. While many at the time the Mary was a biblical reference he has often corrected that story so people understood it was about his own mother Mary McCartney, who died when he was 14 years of age.
