Free Seed Films have launched a Kickstarter campaign to make a definitive documentary on the legendary backing band of Ian Dury; The Blockheads.

The team are hoping to raise £50,000 in order to document the true talent and extensive careers of the 4 original band members; Mick Gallagher, Chaz Jankel, Johnny Turnbull and Norman Watt-Roy, from the beginning to present day.

Elton John was quoted as saying that Ian Dury had the best live band in England, a reputation that made them the number one session musicians in the UK, before the age of sampling and programmed music took hold. Their live performances still inspire to this day.

No one has ever told the full story of The Blockheads on film. Previous documentaries involving anything to do with the band, focused on the artists they were backing. Working closely with the band, Free Seed Films has been gathering material for the last 18 months.

Kickstarter to run until 6pm 6th June 2015. Check it out here.
