The Church To Perform Starfish To Mark 30th Anniversary

by Paul Cashmere on July 5, 2018

in News

The Church will do a round of theatre shows in Australia in November and December to mark the 30th anniversary of the classic ‘Starfish’ album.

‘Starfish’, the fifth album for The Church, was released on 18 February, 1988. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with L.A. session musicians Waddy Wachtel and Greg Ladanyi helping out.

The album anchor was ‘Under The Milky Way’. The song made it into a 1989 episode of Miami Vice and the film Donnie Darko. The song was written by Steve Kilbey with his then girlfriend Karin Jansson of Pink Champagne.

Over the years ‘Under The Milky Way’ was covered by Jimmy Little, Rick Springfield, Josh Pyke, Sia, Coheed and Cambria, George, The Killers, Miami Horror and Powerman 5000.
