The collection will include a remastered version of the album plus 2CDs of alternates and outtakes as well as the 2CD version of ‘Great Gypsy Soul’, a collection of tribute songs for Bolin.

Tommy Bolin had a brief rise to fame off the back of James Gang (he replaced Joe Walsh) as well as his stint in Deep Purple (Come Taste The Band).

Guests on the tribute albums include Peter Frampton, Warren Haynes (a key supporter of the project), Nels Cline, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Brad Whitford, Joe Bonamassa, John Scofield, Derek Trucks, Glenn Hughes and Myles.

“Many of the guests added after the fact have a close personal connection to Tommy—all share in acknowledging his place in rock history. Watching (and hearing) it all come to fruition some 35 years later was a journey of its own—well worth the travel,” says Warren Hayes.

Tommy Bolin was found dead after a gig in Miami in 1976. He had died from a drug overdose at the age of 25.

Deep Purple Mark IV’s Bold Farewell ‘Come Taste The Band’ Turns 50

Fifty years ago, Deep Purple closed one of the most turbulent chapters in rock history with Come Taste The Band. Released 7 November 1975, the record marked the final breath of the band before their split the following year, and the lone studio outing for the short-lived Mark IV line-up with Tommy Bolin on guitar. Half a century later, the album stands as one of rock's great “what if” stories, a bold reinvention from a band determined to push forward, even as its foundations were buckling.
