Willie Nelson Gets The Conan O’Brien Honors For His 80th

US talk show host Conan O’Brien has been celebrating Willie Nelson’s 80th birthday week with a few fun things and a few musical things.

O’Brien “unearthed” and broadcast a lost audition reel featuring Willie auditioning for Gandalf in The Hobbit. The 80-year country superstar asks Peter Jackson to “hire me and fire that Ian McKellen guy. He’s a good actor but, hell, I’m Willie Nelson.

On last night’s show Willie’s son Lukas performed ‘Old Familiar Pain’ from the Wasted album.

Willie Nelson turned 80 years old on April 30. Marking his 80th birthday the veteran country superstar released his new album ‘Let’s Face The Music and Dance’ last week through Sony Music.
