The Angels mark a defining moment in Australian rock history, with The Angels taking their Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again… 50 Years On tour across the country in 2026

Australian rock icon John Brewster of The Angels delivered a career-spanning moment last night in Adelaide, joining Brisbane punk-garage trio Dune Rats during their support set for Yungblud's Idols Tour at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Together, they performed the legendary pub rock anthem “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again,” creating a historic moment that bridged generations of Australian rock fans.

The Angels cofounder and rhythm guitarist John Brewster had a close call when a heart attack put him out of action when The Angels started recording their new album ‘Ninety Nine’. John had to make up his parts later in hotel rooms while on tour on Red Hot Summer with Cheap Trick earlier this year.

When Dave Gleeson stepped down from his 12 year stint as lead singer of The Angels, Nick Norton had some big shoes to fill. Much like the big shoes Dave had to fill after the final departure of Doc Neeson.

The Angels and the Australian Stage Orchestra have performed the show originally set for November 2022 on Friday 23 June 2023.

The Angels played their first Melbourne show in two years on Friday night, kicking off a reactivated live year for one of Australia’s greatest rock bands.

When The Angels first started in 1976 Australian rock was still trying to find an identity. It had a great foundation with Johnny O’Keefe and Billy Thorpe before them but around those mid 70s something was brewing and in that brew was a couple of Brewsters.
