Chuck Berry’s entire recording career will be released as the 16 disc set’Rock And Roll Music – Any Old Way You Choose It – The Complete Studio Recordings … Plus!’.

This one is not for the feint of heart (or wallet), but it is one gorgeous set. 16-CDs containing 396 tracks by the iconic Chuck Berry, taking in virtually every studio recording that he ever made.

It’s a product of Germany’s Bear Family Records who are one of the world’s greatest archive labels, releasing rare recordings and complete discographies from many of the best artists of the last sixty years.

This time around, they’ve gathered every single and LP track ever produced by Berry, including every side from Chess, Mercury and Atco, along with every surviving alternate take and even a rare pre-Chess single with Joe Alexander that was recorded in 1954. Also included are many live recordings dating from 1956 to 1972.

The first of the two books in the set is a 108-page photo essay made up of many previously unseen images that were found by British photography Bill Greensmith in the possession of Berry’s uncle, Harry Davis. These photos date back to Berry’s pre-recording days playing in clubs around St. Louis.

The second is a 256-page book that includes an essay by Berry’s biographer Bruce Pegg with additional writings by Mike Snow and Roger Fairhurst, a complete discography by Fred Rothwell and hundreds of additional photographs.
