5 Seconds Of Summer Consider The Maddens Their Brothers

5 Seconds of Summer think of Good Charlotte as their brothers.

The Australian boyband ‘ comprised of Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin and Michael Clifford ‘ have been working with rocker siblings Joel and Benji Madden on their upcoming second album Sounds Good Feels Good.

And while the groups have been teaming up on a professional basis, the boys admit they have been taking more than just musical advice from the veteran rockers.

‘They’re like our big band brothers. Every day, they have another motivational speech,’ Calum told MTV.com.

And it’s not just inspiring words that Joel and Benji are on hand with. The twins have also been industry experience to come up with analogies that 5SOS can relate to.

‘They come up with the best analogies, like Joel told me the other day, and it was an astronaut analogy,’ Calum continued.

‘It was about touring life and being on a bus, like this is almost a spaceship, and we are the astronauts, and you can’t really explain to people who aren’t astronauts what you experience on tour,’ Ashton added. ‘But you can explain it to other astronauts, and he was saying that I’m a fellow astronaut. He’s very good with words.’

Benji and Joel have had immense success as the duo Good Charlotte. But they also write songs for other people ‘ including 5SOS’s latest offering, the single She’s Kinda Hot.

And Ashton revealed in another recent interview that the band were thrilled that their songwriting session with the Madden twins had produced a song as ‘revolutionary’ as She’s Kinda Hot.

“Basically we just went in with the Madden brothers to write some songs, and She’s Kinda Hot came out of it,” he told Billboard magazine. “We kind of planned on it being a song of revolution for our fans, and we made up the lyric ‘We are the kings and the queens of the new broken scene,’ and the idea of the ‘new broken scene’ is of a revolution for our fans to get behind.’
