A Townsville stopover on Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour may or may not happen because the venue he is meant to play has not been finished.

Word leaked of an Elton John Townsville date this week but according to Michael Chugg in may not happen.

Michael Chugg told Pricey at Triple M, Townsville, “When we originally went on sale with the Australian tour we said that we would be doing Northern Queensland as part of the tour. We wanted people to know that so that they didn’t go buying tickets for Brisbane. We’ve been talking to the Townsville authorities and the Stadium but what happened yesterday was disgusting. The stadium hasn’t been built yet. Because of the success of Cairns and Mackay on the Once In A Lifetime tour, every town in Queensland wants Elton”.

Chugg is pissed off reports were published because the deal could be finalized. “We’ve got other options,” he told Pricey. “We are angry about what happened. We will be playing in Northern Queensland. I just hope Elton doesn’t see all this and gets the shits and wants to go back to Cairns”.

Elton John played in Townsville in 2007. “He loved Townsville all those years ago. Hopefully we can make this happen but if he doesn’t come I’d hate to be whoever leaked the story,” Chugg said.

Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Australian and New Zealand dates start 30 November in Perth.

Leo Sayer Shares His Thoughts on The Passing of Sly Stone

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
