Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean tells fans to expect their Las Vegas residency concerts to be an “over-the-top” spectacle.

Backstreet Boys, comprised of AJ, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, and Brian Littrell, announced on Friday (23Sep16) it will be reuniting onstage for a string of shows in The AXIS Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Sin City next year (17), and they are planning to put on “mind-blowing” events for concertgoers.

“We’re hopefully going to have some of the biggest elements from all of our biggest tours, songs and shows,” AJ explains to Entertainment Tonight. “This whole city is about live shows and being over-the-top, so it’s going to be no-holds-barred. It will be the biggest show we’ve ever done in 24 years because it’s fricken Vegas – we gotta go big! We literally want people breathless as they leave.”

McLean reveals he and his bandmates were inspired to perform concerts in Las Vegas by Britney Spears, who will be wrapping up her own Piece of Me Sin City residency at Planet Hollywood next May (16).

“We’ve known Brit for years,” he shares. “Me and (fellow Backstreet Boy) Kevin went to see her show earlier this year and right before it started she had me come up to her dressing room to take a selfie with us. We started talking and I was asking lots of questions (about her show), ‘How do you like this? Is it cool? Cause we’re trying to do the same thing.’”

“She literally said, ‘This is the best job ever!’,” he adds. “She said that it’s hard work, but easy in the sense that you get to be with your family more than when you’re on tour and have somewhat of a normal life.”

The Backstreet Boys will be performing shows in Las Vegas as part of their Larger Than Life residency next year (17) in March and June. Tickets for these concerts will be up for sale on 1 October.
