Beck’s sheet music album ‘Song Reader’ is finally going to be heard … but not from Beck.

Beck has assembled an all-star cast to put to sound his Song Reader book of sheet music.

In the six years between Modern Guilt and Morning Phase, Beck worked as a producer for the likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Thurston Moore, started the Record Club which released cover albums by various artists and he put together Song Reader. The project was a book of sheet music written by the artist which he hoped would be recorded by other artists.

On Wednesday, Beck announced the Song Reader album which contains those compositions as recorded by twenty different artists including Loudon Wainwright III, David Johansen, Sparks, Norah Jones, Jack White, .fun and Jason Isbell among others. Beck himself takes on one song, Heaven’s Ladder.

The album was produced by Beck and Randall Poster and is being issued by Capitol Records and Warby Parker, an eyeglasses maker who previously released Beck branded glasses. Both Beck and Warby Parker will donate the proceeds from the album to 826 National, an organization that provides students, ages 6 to 18, with chances to pursue their creativity and improve their writing skills.
