Just weeks ago Brandi Carlile was the big winner at the 18th annual Americana Honors & Awards in Nashville. She was crowned Artist of the Year by legendary songwriter John Prine.

When Brandi accepted the award her first impulse was to pay tribute to her fellow nominees. “Rhiannon Giddens is one of the most important artists of this generation,” she said. “Kacey Musgraves did something new and special, and it’s really hard to do something new anymore.” She said of Mavis Staples, “she took a DNA test; it turns out she is 100 percent That Legend.”

She performed ‘Hold Out Your Hand’ at the awards ceremony.

Earlier this year 38-year old Brandi Carlile won the Grammy Award for American Roots Performance.

In April, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland will be able to witness Brandi Carlile live for what will be three very special Bluesfest sideshows.

Brandi Carlile Australian and New Zealand dates

April 6, Melbourne, Hamer Hall
April 8, Sydney, Enmore Theatre
April 12, Auckland, Town Hall

Watch Brandi Carlile as part of The Highwomen with Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby perform Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain.
