Dean Ray To Rock Out At One-Off Cherry Bar Show

by Paul Cashmere on October 25, 2015

in Live,News

2014 X-Factor finalist Dean Ray is about to leave his reality show comfort zone behind for his ‘coming of age’ gig at Melbourne’s rockhaus The Cherry Bar.

Since 2000 the Cherry Bar, in Melbourne’s AC/DC Lane, has grown to become a rock and roll institution for punters wanted to discover new acts, legends like Noel Gallagher wanting to hang out after their gigs and world class musicians, such as Gary Clark Jr, just wanting their real bar room place to play when they are in Melbourne. The bar has been referenced in songs by Airbourne and Jet.

“Stoked to be playing Cherry! It’s a Melbourne icon, and so many of my musical heroes have been on that stage,” Dean tells Noise11.com.

Dean Ray’s name was branded across Australia when he became a finalist in the X-Factor of 2014. The show gave him a national profile but sent him in a pop musical direction not aligned with his own personal influences.

The real Dean Ray is a rock soaked singer songwriter. His songs are better suited to a bar room base like Cherry rather than the façade of reality TV contests.
