The reformed band announced the new album ‘One Day I’m Going To Soar’ on their Facebook page this week and released a sample of the first two minutes of the album.

Kevin Rowland formed Dexy’s Midnight Runners in 1978 and made the UK chart for the very first time in 1980 with ‘Geno’, a song about American R&B singer Geno Washington. It went to number one in the UK.

In 1982, the second album ‘Too-Rye-Ay’ was released and generated a global hit with ‘Come On Eileen’ and a sizeable follow-up hit with a cover of Van Morrison’s ‘Jackie Wilson Said’.

In 1985 after a three-year break the band returned with ‘Don’t Stand Me Down’ but the momentum had waned.

In 1986 Rowland went solo. He has released two albums – ‘The Wanderer’ in 1988 and ‘My Beauty’ in 1999.

‘One Day I’m Going To Soar’ will be the fourth album under the Dexy’s Midnight Runners Name.
