Ed Sheeran’s ‘divide’ album was leaps and bounds ahead of Meg Mac’s ‘Low Blows’ debut in its 20th week this week. ‘divide’ will safety be the biggest selling album of 2017.

Sheeran had the number one album by almost 2000 sales beating Meg Mac in both physical sales and streams.

Meg Mac’s ‘Low Blows’ was the number one album for download sales by around 500 units but Sheeran was around 1500 CD/LPs ahead of Mac and more than 1000 stream sales in front.

The Ed Sheeran album has done old school figures since its release with sales now over 300,000 units in Australia (or 4x platinum).

While chart figures can be high, sales figures can be cruel with the Meg Mac album selling just 3000 copies in its first week plus 278 bonus points added for streams. ‘Low Blows’ was at no 15 overall on the streaming chart for the week.

At almost seven months into 2017 we can now call Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ album as the number one album of the year. Nothing will or can come close, especially as momentum builds to his Australian tour of 2018.

Ed Sheeran will kick off the Australian dates in Perth on March 2, 2018 for Frontier Touring.
