Happy Mondays To Tour Australia With Original Line-up?

by Paul Cashmere on January 8, 2013

in Live,News

Are the Happy Mondays about to announce a May 2013 headline tour of Australia for the first time ever with their definitive full original lineup?”

Happy Mondays

Happy Mondays

That’s the big question.

The Happy Mondays formed in Manchester in 1980 with Shaun Ryder on vocals, his brother Paul on bass, Mark Day on guitar, Paul Davis on keyboards and Gary Whelan on drums. Bez joined alter as dancer/percussionist.

After disbanding in 1993, Shaun Ryder formed Black Grape and when Happy Mondays reformed in 1999 the line-up was missing Mark Day and Paul Davis.

The third incarnation of Happy Mondays featured Bez, Whelan and Shaun Ryder. That was in 2004.

The original line-up with both of the Ryder brothers, Mark Day, Paul Davis, Bez and backing vocalist Rowetta did a 13 date tour of the UK in May 2012.

Stay tuned to Noise11. We may have some dates for Happy Mondays in Australia sooner than later.
