Hilary Duff Contemplates Career Behind The Camera

Hilary Duff is keen to step behind the camera and pursue a career in production.

The actress has been in the spotlight since the early 2000s when she landed the titular character on Disney Channel TV series Lizzie McGuire and has since gone on to nab parts in shows such as Gossip Girl and Younger.

While Hilary is currently focused on her second pregnancy, she is expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Matthew Koma, as well as caring for her six-year-old son Luca, she is also plotting a career as a producer.

“I would love to produce and maybe direct. It’s just a timing thing. It’s hard to make it all happen,” she told Byrdie. “The second I’m done with four months of shooting (Younger), I feel like I really just need to be a mom for Luca. I have so many other aspirations and dreams.”

Hilary went on to explain that she would like to follow in the footsteps of Reese Witherspoon, who juggles parenthood with acting gigs and running her own production company, Type A Films.

However, she’s open to all opportunities that come her way.

“I’m so impressed by her,” the 30-year-old shared of the Big Little Lies star. “I think that’s something I’d love to see myself doing in the future, but you never know. There needs to be a few more days in the week and a few more days off on the weekend for everyone.”

During the interview, Hilary spoke about her Younger character too and explained that she genuinely relates to Kelsey and the way in which she navigates life.

“I love playing characters who women relate to and who have lives people can see themselves in. She gets to be a little more carefree. But she likes to have a good time and she works hard,” she smiled.
