Birkin and Gainsbourg were together for about a decade and had one child, Charlotte Gainsbourg. (Charlotte featured on Madonna’s ‘Music’ album singing on ‘What It Feels Like For A Girl’).

Birkin is performing the ‘Jane Birkin sings Serge Gainsbourg’ to make the 20th anniversary of her partner’s death.

When they were together they produced six albums and still worked together after they split in 1980.

Jane will perform with a Japanese band including pianist and composer Nobuyuki Nakajima, known for both his masterful piano and his work arranging ensembles; jazz-influenced drummer Tsuotmu Kurihara; violinist Asuka Maret; and brass player Shuishiro Sakaguchi.

Jane Birkin first achieved her own fame with her brief but memorable 1960 nude scene in the cult classic ‘Blowup’. Musically, Jane and Serge had a major hit with the sensual ‘J’Taime’ (also a hit in Australia for Number 96 star Abigail).

Jane Birkin dates are:

March 16, Sydney, City Recital Centre
March 17, Adelaide, Barrio
March 18, Melbourne, Recital Centre
March 19, Brisbane, Powerhouse
