Memo Music Hall has a special event this Sunday with John Thorn is joined by Lindsay Field of the John Farnham Band and Emily Taheny from Mad As Hell for Looking for Lawson.

Looking for Lawson is the words of Australian poet Henry Lawson put to music.

Check out Lindsay Field performing Lawson’s ‘After All’.

According to Memo Music Hall’s info, “the poems are presented in the order Lawson wrote them, along with brief background comments and anecdotes, and show the way his ideas developed as his life unfolded. Composer John Thorn uses a range of styles including Marches, Tangos, English Music Hall, European and Irish Folk tunes and Torch Songs to add further flavour to Lawson’s words. There are echoes of composers such as Jacques Brel, Astor Piazzola, Joni Mitchell and even the Anglican Hymn Book – timeless melodies that sound equally fresh and familiar enough for the audience to sing along”.

Doors Open: 2pm, Showtime: 3-5pm (with intermission).
