Madonna To Tour Australia For First Time Since 1993

Madonna will tour Australia in 2016 for what will be only her second-ever Australian tour.

Dates for Madonna’s The Rebel Heart Tour’ were announced by touring company Live Nation overnight. 35 dates for Europe and North America / Puerto Rico were confirmed with the additional line “Additional tour dates for Asia and Australia are expected to be announced soon”.

Madonna last toured Australia for the one and only previous time with The Girlie Tour in November, 1993. On that tour she played three Melbourne Cricket Ground shows and sold 147,241 tickets in Melbourne alone. The three Sydney shows at the Sydney Cricket Ground drew 135,000 and 40,000 came to see Madonna at Adelaide Oval. She also played Brisbane’s ANZ Stadium. (Ticket sales are not available).

The Rebel Heart tour will start in Miami, Florida on August 29. Europe gets underway on November 4 from Koln, Germany.

Madonna will release her 13th album ‘Rebel Heart’ on March 9 and is expected to launch the album at SXSW in Austin, Texas during SXSW Music from March 17-22.
