Mary Hopkin, best known as one of the first artists to sign with the Beatles’ Apple label and for her hit Those Were The Days, will release a new record in 2014.

Mary has stayed very active in music over the years, especially over the last ten years. She is married to David Bowie’s producer Tony Visconti.

Hopkin will release ‘Paint By Number, in early-2014. The set features “stripped down and bare arrangements of Mary’s own songs.” The majority of the songs were co-written with Brian Willoughby, who has worked with The Strawbs and Nanci Griffith, along with one written with Benny Gallagher of Gallagher and Lyle.

Mary’s daughter, Jessica, was instrumental in her recent resurgence, bringing the singer into the world of independent publishing along with providing a place for Mary to record when the spirit hits with she and her husband’s Space Studios. Mary’s son, Morgan, is a musician and collaborated with his mother on the 2010 album You Look Familiar.

The album is already available from Hopkin’s own Hop Shop and will be out in digital form early in 2014.
