Melbourne’s Rebetiko Festival booked in for Melbourne Recital Centre in 2019

Melbourne’s Greek community will be treated to the Rebetiko Festival at Melbourne Recital Centre in March 2019.

Rebetiko is Greek Blues. The music merges styles and cultures from Byzantine, Turkish, Greek, Sephardic, Jazz, and other forms.

Rebetiko captures the past pays respect to the present music of modern Greece, its diversities and influences.

The 2019 line-up will feature:

Rebetien / Ρεμπετιέν (Greece)
Atsushi Tookaya (Japan)
Melbourne Rebetiko Ensemble with Aggie Gioftsidis
George Doukas and the D Strings (Sydney)
Polyxeni Melbourne
Meyhane
Mandolins of Smyrne
Rebetiko Trio
Alphington Grammar Band
Melbourne Bouzouki Orchestra with Dean Georgalas

The Rebetiko Festival is on Saturday March 23 from 3pm at Melbourne Recital Centre.
