Geelong will host the Motor City Music Festival in March, 2014.

Geelong will become Geetroit for the weekend. Detroit was named Motor City in the USA for its domination of car production. Ford set up shop in Geelong in 1925 making the Victorian city Australia’s Motor City. The first Ute was built in Geelong in 1934.

The Motor City Music Festival will include Boom Crash Opera, Chocolate Starfish, Daryl Braithwaite, Nick Barker, Rick Price, the Chantoozies and Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk.

The festival will be a three-day event at the Geelong Showgrounds. There will be five stages, food and wine and a beer hall. The organisers of the event are the people behind the legendary Queenscliff Blues Train.

Also on the bill, Alister Turnbull, Andrea Marr, Appetite For Destruction, Blues Eyes Cry, Blues Mountain, Brian Fraser, Chris Wilson, Claude Hay, Die Hard Dolls, Geoff Achison, George Kamikawa, Glitter Gang, Jimi Hocking, John McNamara, Kisstroyer, Lloyd Spiegel, Louis King, Macro Goldsmith, Michael Stangel and Mr Black & Blues.
