Tom Jones is set to return to the stage following his wife’s death.

Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, known as Linda to friends and family, lost her life on 10 April (16) after a battle with cancer. Tom, 75, has kept a low profile since her passing, but took to Facebook on Monday to tell fans he has chosen to deal with his grief through the medium of music.

“Music is so important to me – it’s my life and through the brightest and darkest of times it has embedded a soundtrack to all my memories,” he wrote.

“I came to the conclusion that singing really is my best therapy. It means a huge amount to be able to continue to perform for such a loyal and giving audience; your support has been uplifting and doesn’t go unnoticed. See you all at the shows this summer.”

His first performance will take place at Hampton Court Palace near London, England, on 8 June (16) as he kicks off his U.K. tour.

It will be his first concert since pulling out of a string of concerts in Asia and the United Arab Emirates when Linda’s health took a turn for the worse.

Linda, who was married to Tom for 59 years, had twice battled cancer and developed lung condition emphysema due to a heavy smoking habit.

The musician revealed in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine last year (15) that Linda also suffered from depression, agoraphobia and needed a stairlift to get upstairs.

They had one son, Mark, who was born in 1957. Mark now works as his father’s manager.

Linda died peacefully at the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a “short but fierce battle with cancer”, Tom’s publicist confirmed last month.
