Neil Young Gives Desert Trip 2 At Taste of New And A Whole Lot of Old

Neil Young + Promise of the Real has played his second ‘Oldchella’ Desert Trip concert with equal parts country Neil, grunge Neil and new Neil taking up equal space in the set.

Neil Young must have a new album in the works. As with last week, he is road-testing ‘Neighborhood’, ‘Show Me’, ‘Texas Ranger’ and ‘Peace Trail’, Something is brewing.

However Desert Trip was all about the classics and Neil divided his country with his rock. When you think about it, Neil Young, a Canadian, was probably the very first Americana artist. The irony!

This weekends setlist swapped ‘Down By The River’ out for ‘Cowgirl In The Sand’, ‘Like A Hurricane’ made an appearance and the show was top heavy on Harvest songs with one from the sequel ‘Harvest Moon’.

Neil came back later to join Paul McCartney for a reprise of last week’s trilogy ‘A Day In The Life’, ‘Give Peace A Chance’ and ‘Why Don’t We Do It In The Road’.

Neil Young’s Australian tour for April 2016 will be announced this week.
