Bluesfest’s Peter Noble has caught his “great white whale”. After years of persevering Robert Plant will play at Bluesfest in 2013.

When I caught up with Peter at BigSound last month he told me he didn’t have Plant yet but they were talking. Robert Plant was confirmed for last year’s event but pulled out before the announcement. Noble has been after him for Bluesfest for years.

“Bringing Robert Plant to Bluesfest is a dream come true, not just for me, but for the thousands of fans who have been standing by patiently all these years!! We have waited together for so long and now it’s gonna happen – I am so delighted and hugely honoured,” Peter said in a statement.

And to use that old line, “but wait there’s more” Bluesfest has a stunning third line-up announcement. You may add to the Plant announcement Madness, Jon Anderson, Status Quo and Roger Hodgson.

“These are artists who are world class and give Bluesfest its icing on the cake, but we are still not done yet. There are still more artists to be added in the upcoming weeks, but for now let’s revel in the wonderment of this 3rd announcement,” he said.

Previously announced artists are
Santana
Ben Harper
Iggy & The Stooges
Steve Miller Band
Jimmy Cliff
Chris Isaak
Bonnie Raitt
Wilco
Rodriguez
Robert Cray
Joan Armatrading
Dropkick Murphys

Bluesfest Melbourne Day Two: Eric Gales, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram and Buddy Guy Steal The Day

Bluesfest Melbourne Day Two was a rollercoaster ride. There was so much great music packed into one day that it was impossible to see it all. I expected and received absolute stunning performances from blues legend Buddy Guy and Americana royalty Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle but it’s the least expected that makes you walk away wanting more.
