Steve Poltz is an incredible talent. He is a performer everyone should have to see on their “to do” list.

The San Diego based Canadian singer/songwriter has formed a unique bond with Australia. He is currently on this 12th Australian tour. It is an adventure that began in 1998 when he was a member of Jewel’s band. Back then, Jewel had just had a massive global hit with ‘You Were Meant For Me’, a song she wrote with Steve.

Jump ahead 14 years to now and Steve’s fondness for Australia is cemented further with his new album, aptly titled ‘Noineen Noiny Noin’, an affectionate piss-take on the Aussie accent. ‘Noineen Noiny Noin’ was recorded in Australia in Perth with Malcolm Clark from The Sleepy Jackson and Kevin Mitchell (Bon Evans, Jebediah).

I’ve lost count of the number of Steve Poltz shows I’ve seen but last night I added another one to the list. The amazing thing about the Poltz performance is that every show is different, every single night is unique and every time he plays he gives everything in his two hours on stage.

The current shows are introducing the new ‘Noineen Noiny Noin’ songs but Steve has 20 years of music to cover, especially when he takes it back to his first band The Rugburns.

Steve dropped by Noise11.com yesterday and we will bring you that interview and performance next week.

Meantime check out Steve’s current tour dates and go and see one of the most entertaining shows you will ever get to see.

Remaining dates for Steve Poltz in Australia are:

May 2, Belgrave, Ruby’s Lounge
May 3, Melbourne, Northcote Social Club
May 5, Sydney, The Basement
May 6, Kincumber, Lizottes
May 7, Cronulla, The Brass Monkey
May 8, Newcastle, Lizottes
May 9, Avoca Beach, Avoca Beach Picture Theatre
May 10, Fremantle, The Fly Trap
May 20, Perth, The Bird
