Toto’s Steve Porcaro will release his first ever solo album ‘Someday / Somehow’ in June.

Porcaro was a founding member of Toto with his brothers Jeff and Mike who have since both died, Jeff in 1992 and Mike in 2015. Toto formed as a backing band for Boz Scaggs’ ‘Silk Degrees’ album. Afterwards as Toto hey released their first album in 1978 and had a hit with ‘Hold The Line’. In 1984 the ‘Toto IV’ album then delivered the band their biggest album with 3 million sales in the USA, a number one record in Australia and six Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.

Steve Porcaro also wrote the music for Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’ and produced the syntheziser on ‘The Girl Is Mine’.

‘Someday/Somehow’ has been a long-term project for Porcaro, who wrote the oldest track on this album ‘Back To You’ in 1983. The song was originally planned for Toto but the band never finished it. This version will feature his two late brothers. The song was written about Steve’s girlfriend at the time Rosanna Arquette, who the song ‘Rosanna’ was also album.

“I’ve always been writing and recording over the years, hoping to find homes for these songs with other artists,” Porcaro remarked. “Lately, I’ve been reminded repeatedly how short life is, and I think it’s finally sinking in and with the encouragement of my band, family and fans, I decided it was time to remove my excuses, throw down, let go and finish these songs the way I hear them.”
