Tim Read and Jane Burridge have placed the iconic venue on the market giving someone the chance to take over The Basement for the first time in 13 years.

When Burridge and Read bought into The Basement in 1999 they became the first new owners of the venue in 3 decades.

Next year, in 2013, The Basement will turn 40.

The Basement stage was played host to greats like Dudley Moore, Dizzy Gillespe and Taj Mahal. Renee Geyer and James Morrison are still regulars. Prince, Neil Diamond, kd lang and Ryan Adams have performed at the venue and back in 2002 former US President Bill Clinton got up on stage with the Maynard Ferguson Band.

In a statement, Tim Read and Jane Burridge said, “with almost 40 years as one of the most recognized names in the country for live music come March 2013, and with a desire for change in our personal priorities, it’s time to hand the baton on to the next generation to take care of the legacy and be part of the future history of this wonderful club”.

All sales enquiries for the club are via Adam Spencer-Carr, Spencer-Carr Property email adam@scproperty.com.au
