Tex Perkins will once again become Johnny Cash for an encore performance run of The Man In Black.

The Helpmann Award winning show played to over 100,000 people in its original run across Australia and New Zealand.

In The Man In Black Tex Perkins tells the story of Cash, one of the most influential American recording artists of the 20th Century. The show was first in a series of biography performances by Room 8 which led to shows about John Denver, Eva Cassidy, Bon Scott and recently ‘At Last: The Etta James Story’.

“This show has developed a life beyond what any of us would have imagined. The Man in Black was, and is, an enigma. His music affects people in a way I still don’t quite understand. Maybe because of the life he led. All I can say is we’re thrilled to be back at The Athenaeum!” says producer Simon Myers.

The Man In Black will play at The Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne from July 16-21.
