The Tea Party fans absolutely adore this band. When Jeff Martin, Stuart Chatwood and Jeff Burrows walked on staged at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, the crowd literally roared.

The Tea Party fans were there for something special. 20 years after The Tea Party’s musical left turn ‘Transmission’ they are in Australia to perform the album in its entirety but not from start to finish.

‘Transmission’, the fourth album for The Tea Party, was a completely different animal to its predecessors. This was a darker album. Electronic an Industrial sounds debuted in the band at this time. ‘Transmission’ was not ‘The Edges of Twilight part two’.

The Tea Party are not doing the traditional start to finish live performance of ‘Transmission’. To perform the album they needed to juggle some songs for tuning and continuity reasons. ‘Temptation’, the opening track off the album ends the first set. Track 8 ‘Babylon’ is moved up to track 2. ‘Track 10 ‘Emerald’ and is placed ahead of ‘Alarum’ but all of the parts are here live.

The sound these three guys make is unbelievable. The three-piece The Tea Party sound like a rock orchestra on stage. The audience was an interesting to watch. These fans were adoring, in awe that they were being treated to ever minute of ‘Transmission’ being performed live in 2017.

The 20 Years of Transmission show is in two parts. After the album performance, The Tea Party paused for an intermission. Part two was a sampler of all the others years.
