The Teenage Cancer Trust were the beneficiaries on Tuesday night of a tribute concert to fifty years of the Who.

Held at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, the show featured a long list of artists along with a surprise appearance by Roger Daltrey who sat in for a sick James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers.

Chris Evans from BBC Radio 2 hosted for the evening while the house band was made up of the members of the Who’s regular touring band with Simon Townshend, Pino Palladino, Billy Nicholls, John Coury, Frank Simes, Loren Gold and Zak Starkey.

Among the veteran artists on the stage were Wilko Johnson, in support of The Strypes, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Sheila Ferguson of the Three Degrees, Geddy Lee of Rush, Liam Gallagher, Eddie Vedder and Daltrey.

Daltrey is a long-time supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust, having curated their annual Royal Albert Hall charity event for fifteen years.
