ZZ Top have been forced to postpone their upcoming US tour because bass player Dusty Hill has had to have surgery.

The ZZ Top bass player is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove two kidney stones this week. As a result, the USA tour due to start in Morton, MN on July 25 will instead resume in Sturgis, SD on Ausgust 6.

According to ZZ Top publicity, “the kidney stones were discovered in the course of a routine physical examination where Hill’s doctor advised him that they should immediately be removed, lest they cause more serious problems down the line”.

ZZ Top dates affected include Morton, MN (July 25), West Bend, WI (July 26), Cincinnati (July 27), Louisville (July 29), Asheville, NC (July 30) and Bethlehem, PA (August 1).

Hill will spend two weeks recovering before putting the show back on the road.

ZZ Top will tour the USA with Jeff Beck.

But now, years later, he has quietly resurfaced, lending his signature alongside bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May on a charity auction item, signalling, perhaps, that even the most private of souls can still make their mark in unexpected ways.
