Lauper Crow Mellencamp Heart Usher Groban Tell Politicians ‘Don’t Use Our Song’

John Oliver did a lengthy bit of his show on HBO last night on the use of popular music by politicians, highlighting not only the numerous complaints over the last week, but also historical incidents such as Ronald Reagan’s use of Bruce Springsteen’s rather non-patriotic Born in the USA.

The bit ended with a new song asking politicians to cut it out featuring Ann and Nancy Wilson, Michael Bolton, Usher, Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Cyndi Lauper, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban (who sings the line “If I wanted to sing and not get paid, I’d be on Spotify”) and John Mellencamp.
