Billy Gibbons Answers Whatever Happened To The New ZZ Top Album

ZZ Top fans have long suspected the band’s next album has turned into the next ‘Chinese Democracy’ as they wait year after year for the release of the record so Noise11.com went right to the source and asked frontman Billy Gibbons what the hell is going on.

Billy tells us ZZ Top isn’t the hold-up. Producer Rick Rubin is.

“Everything’s buzzing,” Billy tells noise11.com. ”I guess the irony of the whole picture is that the band is wondering. Where is this thing? When do we hear it? Rick’s funny. We’ve been friends for as long as I can remember. Triple decades and this is the first time we have broken the mould as business pals”.

He admits Rick has to get the album right before he releases it. “He’s got a somewhat unorthodox way of doing everything that he does including making records but he has a sense of intuition that can’t be beat,” Billy says.

Billy also says the album should not sound all that different from previous ZZ Top records. “The only real directive was “don’t change much” and I said “okay” and he said “listen if we stumble into something that’s really insane and it works I’m going to keep it” and I said “that’s good”.

So while we wait for a new ZZ Top album, you do not have to wait for the new Billy Gibbons BBQ sauce, available now at billyfgibbons.com AND this is not product placement, that sauce Billy attempted to slip into the pocket that I did not have in the video below is a magic in a Bloody Mary.
