Ben won Best Male Solo of the Year and Breakthrough Act of the Year.

After the awards Ben spoke with The Telegraph and said, “The breakthrough [award] was pretty funny. I didn’t really expect it to be honest. I didn’t expect any of them. It was kind of genuine shock. I thanked my mum on the first one, so that was pretty rock and roll.”

The addition of Ben’s award to the three Grammy Awards handed out to Bluesfest acts makes Bluesfest the award winning festival of 2013. Bonnie Raitt, Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Cliff all won Grammy Awards this year.

Bluesfest director Peter Noble is pumped for the festival this year. “What a year 2013 has been so far,” he said. “Next year we turn 25 so you can bet that it will be one hell of a party with some awesome artists on the bill. Artists love coming to play in Byron and I’ve spoken to many over the past few months and they all want to come and soak up our special vibe and party up for our special birthday next year”.

Joining Ben, Bonnie, Zac and Jimmy at this years festival are Santana, Robert Plant, Paul Simon, Jason Mraz, Ben Harper, Iggy Pop, Counting Crows, Roger Hodgson, Jon Anderson and more.

Bluesfest will be held over the Easter Long Weekend at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, Byron Bay.
