Brian Wilson Plays Jones Beach New York #SETLIST

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on July 2, 2015

in Live,News

Brian Wilson said he was too busy with the success of the biopic Love and Mercy to carry through with his British tour, postponing it until next year, but he’s obviously not too busy to hit the circuit in the U.S.

Wilson played Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY on Tuesday night with Rodriguez opening, knocking out a set of 32 mostly Beach Boys classics.

For all of his curmudgeonly glory, Wilson knows how to satisfy a concert crowd, sticking almost exclusively with 1960’s Beach Boys songs with the exception of three from the 70’s, one from his debut solo album, Brian Wilson (1988) and four from his latest set, No Pier Pressure.

On tour with Wilson this time around are former Beach Boys members Al Jardine and Blondie Champlin, both of which took occasional leads. Also taking a couple of leads were Jardine’s son, Matt, and Darian Sahanaja of Wilson’s band the Wondermints.

The set list (Brian on lead except where noted):
