Courtney Love is coming to Australia. Those words will thrill some and terrify many.
Courtney Love is, if nothing else, a loose cannon. Her antics rank with rappers so I guess her audience will be made up equally of fans and curious onlookers.
I last saw Courtney Love in 2010 at SXSW in Austin at the Dirty Dog Bar. Of the hundreds of gigs on in Austin that night that was the one I choose. I was curious. I had seen Hole years earlier that the Big Day Out and despite lack of any hit music in ages, Love was one of those personalities that always maintained a high-profile, even if mostly for not the right reasons.
The Courtney Love show in Austin was one of the hottest tickets in town. The Dirty Dog Bar on Austin’s iconic 6th Street, really is a tiny venue with capacity of 500. It took some talking to get in.
The show was incredible. Courtney Love really is a rock star and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. When the show ended, instead of going backstage she jumped right off the stage and went over to the bar, sat and ordered a drink.
Courtney Love will tour Australia as Courtney Love, not Hole. She recently announced Hole were back together, then retracted.
One thing is for sure, when Courtney performs you will be guaranteed a real rock show.
