Dolly Parton Starts New Tour In Greensboro

in News

Dolly Parton kicked off her Pure and Simple Tour on Friday night at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.

Parton’s first full tour in twenty-five years, she has kept things light with only three additional musicians on stage but Dolly and her band play a wide variety of instruments, giving the feel of a much larger ensemble.

Dolly has had so many hits that it’s impossible to hit them all or even a majority in a single show, but she did a pretty good job hitting the highlights including number ones like Jolene, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again, 9 to 5 and Islands in the Stream. The only Dolly “standard” missing was Love is Like a Butterfly which was the also the opening theme for her 70’s variety show.

Parton also sampled two songs from her upcoming album Pure & Simple along with one from 2014’s Blue Smoke which was a monster hit in the U.K.
