Jeff Lynne Resurrects ELO Brand For New Album

Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are officially returning to the recording studio.

Lynne made the announcement, sans any real details, on his Facebook page Thursday morning, saying that the band had signed to Columbia and were going to record a new album:
What do you suppose these two are plotting?

Perhaps it has something to do with this announcement…

Jeff Lynne’s ELO has signed a global deal with Columbia Records and is set to release a new ELO album! The first new ELO music in over a decade!

More news coming soon!

ELO was formed in 1970 by Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood and, while Wood would only stay until 1972, Lynne would front the group and be the creative force until they disbanded in 1986, although Bev Beaven would continue as ELO Part II for a few years.

Lynne returned in 2000 for the 2001 album Zoom but it wasn’t until last year’s Festival in the Park in London that a full-fledged new ELO began to take place. Lynne’s performance at that show has since been released on DVD.
