Jon Bon Jovi has fuelled rumours he’s set to buy the Buffalo Bills and, despite fan petitions to keep Bon Jovi from becoming among the bidders, the New York Post reports negotiations appear to be ongoing, with the star seen having a “two-hour lunch” with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“They were definitely talking business,” a source said of the pair’s reported meeting at New York City’s Fresco by Scotto. “Jon was taking notes – he had a pen and paper with him at the table.”
It wouldn’t be the musician’s first time owning a sports club. As the Post notes, Bon Jovi is also the founder and former owner of the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.
He’s said to now have joined with Canada’s Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment group to make the bid for the NFL team. And apparently upset Bills fans haven’t dissuaded him from making another major purchase.
“It’s no secret that Jon’s passion is to become an NFL owner,” the insider said.
The Bills have been up for grabs since the death of owner Ralph Wilson in March, with the price tag said to be hovering around $1 billion.
Donald Trump has also been added to the ring of rumored interested buyers, as well as the team’s former quarterback Jim Kelly and former Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano, according to the Post.
A spokesperson for the rocker had not commented on the latest claims at press time.
