Edwards is one of this country’s most respected indigenous artists and he returns with his third solo album Blak & Blu, with a little help from friends Jeff Lang, Rebecca Barnard, Chris Wilson and Dan Sultan.

The first single from the album, ‘Get Back Up Again’, is out now and there’s a new video to accompany it.

Edwards says of the song: “Music took me to many places and I was always happiest when performing but it was the fringe elements of the scene I didn’t have the heart for. Sometimes the competition and negativity gets the better of you. It was at a time like this time I began feeling isolated, unsupported etc, I fell into a hole, a place of no hope.

“During that period I became resentful and was full of self-pity. It took a while for me to remember but a challenge was given me a long time ago by my beloved father figure and my brothers telling me it doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, it matters that you get back up again, dust yourself down and get ready for the next battle ahead”.

Edwards will launch the new album with a handful of shows in the coming months in Melbourne, Castlemaine and Sydney. Check out the dates and the tune below. Blak & Blu will be released on October 19.
