Michael Franti Googles His Own Lyrics

by Paul Cashmere on April 13, 2014

in Live,News

Michael Franti says he sometimes has to Google his own songs to remember his lyrics.

“Some of my earlier songs have lots of words, the rap orientated songs,” Michael Franti tells Noise11. “There are a LOT of words and sometimes I have to Google my own songs to remember the words. How does the first or second verse start? I Google it. Sometimes I have even had to put notes down and the stage to remember. Usually after I remember the first word or two it all comes back”.

Although Franti may be guilty of Googling his own words he says he hasn’t gone as far as ice-T using a teleprompter.

“I am yet to go wit teleprompters,” he said. “I did a few shows with Ice-T and he had Teleprompters on stage and I said “I’m never going there’”.

Michael Franti and Spearhead will perform at Bluesfest, Byron Bay and the Deni Blues & Roots Festival over Easter as well as The Tivoli, Brisbane on April 24, 2014.
