Samsung Takes On Apple At SXSW

by Paul Cashmere on March 14, 2015

in News,Noise Pro

Samsung has brought in Mary J. Blige and D’Angelo to SXSW to combat Apple’s activity with the Apple Watch.

Blige and D’Angelo will perform during SXSW at the Samsung Supper Club. The company is continuing its big brand awareness marketing assault this year following on from 2014’s Kanye West and Jay Z product placement and the previous year’s Samsung event featuring Prince.

Apple is yet to play its cards as to who it will roll out at SXSW this year but has announced pop-up shops for an early launch of the Apple Watch, due elsewhere in April. Apple’s product placement band on retainer for the Apple Watch is U2.

D’Angelo will perform for Samsung on March 15, Blige on March 17.

As has become common at SXSW in recent years, these events will be invite only for the chosen few and not automatically open to every SXSW delegate.
