Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has issued a New Year’s statement and reports that he is ending his cancer treatment soon.

“I should also be finishing my regular treatment and I’m hoping to not get so tired, all positive,” Iommi told fans at his official website.

For 2013, Black Sabbath released ‘13’, their first album with Ozzy Osbourne in 27 years and started a world tour in Melbourne, Australia. “After a such a brilliant 2013, it’s going to be difficult to match it this year but we’ll be having a go,” he said.

During 2013 Black Sabbath also appeared on the TV drama ‘CSI’ and released the live DVD ‘Gathered By The Masses’, filmed at the Melbourne shows.

Black Sabbath has plans for 2014. “We’ve some good things lined up for the coming year, firstly the Grammy’s, then some dates in the US and Canada, and in the summer a quick trip round Europe. I should also be finishing my regular treatment and I’m hoping to not get so tired, all positive,” he said.

Black Sabbath ‘God Is Dead’ has been nominated for Best Metal Performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards up against Anthrax ‘T.N.T.’, Dream Theater ‘The Enemy Inside’, Killswitch Engage ‘In Due Time’ and Volbeat featuring King Diamond ‘Room 24’. The song is also up for Best Rock Song against Gary Clark Jr ‘Stop Messin ‘Round’, Paul McCartney and Nirvana ‘Cut Me Some Slack’, The Rolling Stones ‘Doom and Gloom’ and Muse ‘Panic Station’.

The album ‘13’ has been nominated for Best Rock Album against David Bowie ‘The Next Day’, Kings of Leon ‘Mechanical Bull’, Led Zeppelin ‘Celebration Day’, Queens of the Stone Age ‘…Like Clockwork’ and Neil Young & Crazy Horse ‘Psychedelic Pill’.

The 56th Grammy Awards will be announced on January 26, 2014.
