Will Butler of Arcade Fire will release his first solo album ‘Policy’ in March and launch the record at the SXSW music conference in Austin, Texas in March.

Arcade Fire have released four albums to date. The first ‘Funeral’ came out in 2004 and the most recent ‘Reflektor’ was released in 2013.

Butler has revealed the first song from the album ‘Take My Side’ with the cryptic opening line “Where’s the fire? Let it burn’.

Butler will release his solo record ‘Policy’ on March 10 in the USA and perform showcase gigs at SXSW on March 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2015. He will also play US dates around his SXSW launch starting in Boston on March 6.

The ‘Policy’ album will be released through Merge Records. Merge Records is the indie label started in 1989 by Laura Balance and Mac McCaughan as a way to release their own band Superchunk.

The first Merge Records record to make the Billboard Top 200 was the Arcade Fire debut ‘Funeral’ in 2004. Arcade Fire also gave Merge its first number one album with 2010’s ‘The Suburbs’.

Merge Records also released the Zooey Deschanel and M Ward collaborations She & Him until they recently departed for Sony.
