Steve Nieve has spent a lifetime playing keyboards alongside Elvis Costello.

Not only is he a member of The Attractions and today’s The Imposters, he has also played on Elvis’s solo collaborations with Allen Toussaint and Burt Bacharach.

“Nieve” Steve was given his name by Ian Dury. Initially he wasn’t too happy with the name, but it stuck.

Steve Nieve has also been releasing solo albums from as far back as 1983. His most recent solo record ‘ToGetHer’ features collaborations with Elvis Costello, Sting, Ron Sexsmith, Joe Sumner, Muriel Teddori, Glenn Tilbrook, Tall Ulyss, Vanessa Paradis, and Laurie Anderson.

Steve Nieve knows the Elvis Costello songbook back to front and is in Australia to perform the songs of Elvis Costello in their most stripped back and intimate mode, on piano alone.

Steve Nieve joined Paul Cashmere at Noise11.com to talk about the show and his long and successful career.
